In 1863, Union and Confederate forces fought for control of Chattanooga, TN. The Confederates were victorious at nearby Chickamauga in September. That victory didn't last. Visitors to the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park GA, TN can see re-enactments of some of the fighting.
Neala McCarten has led a life marked by detours, starting one place, and ending up somewhere unexpected. Born in New York City she eventually obtained a Ph.D. in Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook (as Neala Schwartzberg). For the next few years, she wandered through a series of jobs. Asking, “Who would I be if I didn’t know who I am?”, she finally decided that she was, at heart, a travel writer and photographer. And then, in an unexpected life twist in 2006 Neala quit her job, sold her house in the suburbs, said goodbye to the life she had been living, and headed to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
